Register now! FREE med student PsychSIGN 2012 Conference, 5/4-5/6, Philadelphia
UPDATE: Registration now closed due to overwhelming demand; please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to request to be on the wait-list! -steve
The PsychSIGN board has been working hard at planning this year's 7th Annual PsychSIGN National Conference in Philadelphia, and we hope you can join us! We met a bunch of you in Honolulu last year, and we'd love to see you again in Philly!
Why should you come? Because where else do you get to attend a FREE psychiatry conference, meet lots of other psychiatry-minded medical students from across the country, and hear some really amazing names in psychiatry speak to you about what's going on in the field, where it's going, and how you can help get it there?! Did I mention registration is FREE?!
We are still in the process of confirming speakers, so we will send out a more specific schedule at a later date. However, the working schedule is as follows:
- Friday, May 4
- Happy Hour/Meet and Greet
- Saturday, May 5
- PsychSIGN National Conference 8a-5p
- Psychiatry Specialties Dinner 6p-9p
- Sunday, May 6
- Resident Discussion Panel 10a-11:30a
- Leadership Meeting (for incoming and outgoing board members) 11:30a-3p
All events- except the happy hour- will be held at the Crown Plaza Downtown Philadelphia, which is just under a mile from the APA Annual Meeting at the Philadelphia Convention Center. We're trying to get a good sense of how many PsychSIGN members are interested in attending, so please register here if you would like to join us. PsychSIGN members have priority enrollment this year, and general enrollment to non-members will open in two weeks.
The APA and PsychSIGN will pay for two nights at the Crown Plaza for each attendee. Because we expect a higher attendance this year (what can we say- it's easier and cheaper to get to Philly than Honolulu), and space is limited, all attendees will be assigned a roommate to share a hotel room. We will not be able to provide accommodations for any significant others. You may indicate roommate preference on the registration form, or email me later on. If you are from the Philadelphia area, or otherwise have lodging for the conference and do not need a PsychSIGN room, please let us know, Some meals will be provided by APA and PsychSIGN, including continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday.
What APA and PsychSIGN cannot help with are your travel expenses to and from Philadelphia. In past years, students have received funding from their medical schools, university student government organizations, APA regional offices, or have paid out of their own pockets. If you have any questions about funding, please contact me or your regional PsychSIGN chair and we'll try to help you think of ways to subsidize your travel.
Hope to have many of you join us in May! Let us know if you have any questions about registration or the conference itself.
